Three flags of, respectively, Cambodia, World Heritage, and Cambodian national committee for UNESCO were hoisted up at the mountaintop Preah Vihear Temple during a solemn ceremony held on the morning of 7 November by the representatives of UNESCO and Cambodian Government under the watching eyes of national and international observers as well as of reporters.

The Cambodian nation further glowed with pride on the historic day of 7 November 2008, when the Organization of World Heritage, especially UNESCO, joined hands with the Royal Government of Cambodia to raise the meaningful flags in unison at the mountaintop of Preah Vihear Temple, a World Heritage site that was included in the World Heritage list in Quebec, Canada, on 7 July 2008.

The ceremony to hoist up the three flags was held, with Buddhist monks chanting, at 0400 GMT on 7 November under the chairmanship of Chuch Phoeung, state secretary of culture and fine arts; Ti Yav, chairman of the Preah Vihear Temple Authority; Phay Siphan, state secretary of the Council of Ministers Office; Mrs. Tan Theany, secretary general of the Cambodia-based UNESCO; high-ranking commanders of the Royal Cambodian Armed Force stationed in the region of Preah Vihear; Cambodian Mine Action Center representative, and a total of around 200 foreign guests.

According to a report from a Kampuchea Thmey reporter at the site of ceremony, the flags were hoisted simultaneously up the shining poles made of inox steel of about 12 meter high at the temple's fifth Kou Borak site.

Cambodia and Vietnam agree rail link: Foreign Minister

Saturday, November 8th, 2008
Hor Namhong
Sunday, November 09, 2008

PHNOM PENH (AFP) — Cambodia and Vietnam have signed a deal to link their railways, Cambodia's foreign minister said Saturday, helping revive long-running plans to link Asia by rail.

Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said China would help Cambodia with the railroad link to Vietnam, which will cost more than 500 million dollars.

"China has promised to build the railroad from Phnom Penh to Vietnam as part of the project to create a link from Singapore to Kunming in China," Hor Namhong said on his return from regional meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam.

"The railroads are very important for Cambodia's economy because we can then export goods to other southeast Asian countries at low cost," he told reporters at Phnom Penh International airport.

Cross-border trade between Cambodia and Vietnam totalled 1.7 billion dollars in the first eight months of this year, Hor Namhong added.

Cambodia is linked to its western neighbour Thailand by a track that is no longer in use.

Cambodia's civil war only ended in the 1990s, and trains throughout the impoverished nation crawl along dilapidated tracks.

It has long been a dream to connect Asia by rail, and many of the gaps in the railway are in Southeast Asia, with only Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand operating cross-border links.

The Asian Development Bank has stepped in with funds to help overhaul Cambodia's railways, a project many hope will be finished within the next few years.

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

I want to express my humble gratitude for all Obama supporters out there for making this possible. It is truly a history in the making. For me living life as a minority for Obama win his presidency the first minority African American to be the next president of the United, I can’t express enough and thank you that he deserved to be the President not only he is talented but with his muti-cultural background that could makes this America’s cultural diverse races a better place to be. He have a lot on his plates but so far he have made the right choices for people that he selected in his cabinets especially his selection of Rahm Emanuel as the White House Chief of Staff. This is great move for him. But still he has a great battle against him working with those white republican conservatives. I’ll pray and hoping that these people will work together with Obama of solving our economic crisis moving the country forward by not hinder it. Especially, with the recent poll of the unemployment rate is sky rocketing. This is not time to divide but united for the people sake to come together especially with million of Americans are looking forward spending time with their family and businesses are looking toward making money during this holiday seasons with Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming. I hope the second stimulus package will be issued out this month. And I pray that those republicans put their differences aside but help Obama to make this possible. I know it is not time for President elected can do much. As President elected Obama had mention its one president at a time, but I wish Bush approve this stimulus package. May God Bless America, watch over this nation and protected Obama’s family for he is taken a role as the first 44th African-American president of the United States.
